At 7PM, we will screen a short 32 minute compilation of 6 shorts, Shore Stories, an independent film about offshore drilling. At 7:35pm, our Northeast Regional Manager, Melissa Gates, will present a short slide deck and talk about the current threat we face with the federal government's national outer continental shelf oil and gas leasing program, which in its draft form proposed to open up nearly all of America's offshore areas to new offshore drilling and seismic exploration (FMI: https://www.surfrider.org/priority-campaigns/stop-new-offshore-drilling).
While the threat this draft proposed program presents is dire for the entire planet, there is a silver lining! When the government releases the next version of its proposed offshore drilling program (any day now!), EVERYONE will have a 90-day opportunity to make written public comments to oppose the reckless expansion, helping build the case for support to protect the ocean, waves and beaches we all love and depend upon.
Come learn more about what has been proposed and how YOU can help make a difference...and...enjoy our gracious host's many fine beers on tap and at the ready for alcohol consuming persons 21+! Under 21 year old ocean lovers are welcome to join with 21+ year old guardians.
RSVP on our Facebook event and make it easy to invite your friends!
